2013-14 Non-BCS Bowl Schedule

With one year of the BCS remaining, so too remains a last large-format non-BCS bowl schedule, with 30 games and 60 slots open for teams who don’t reach the 10 available BCS positions.

As in years past, if conferences are unable to qualify enough teams as bowl-eligible, bowls can select from other bowl-eligible teams or may have contracts for other conferences to fill certain affiliations. Games begin this season Dec. 21 and run through Jan. 5, 2014; from San Diego to the Bronx, NY and many places in between.

You might notice the new conference affiliation listed, “American.”  That’s the new name of the Big East this season. The American Athletic Conference (AAC or “The American”) inherited the Big East’s slots and BCS bowl affiliation. The other conferences are the same as they ever were.

  • Cotton Bowl: Surprise Big 12 contender Texas A&M will take on perennial SEC power LSU.
  • Insight Bowl: Teams in their respective conference races until the later part of the season will face off in Glendale as Iowa takes on Missouri.
  • MAACO Bowl Las Vegas: Utah and Boise State, two of the strongest non-AQ teams this season, face off in an arranged matchup only available because of the lack of eligible Pac-10 teams.
